First off, congratulations! Whether you plan to stay online, or you plan to expand to a brick and mortar, I'm proud of you! Being a business owner is no easy feat. So, I definitely think congratulations are in order. First things first, get your business name. Once you come up with the name for your business, GOOGLE IT. I know you thought of it. However, you need to make sure someone else had not thought of it first. This will help you with trademarking and a number of other things.
Once you have your business name, go to your state government website and establish your LLC and get your EIN. After that, you should file your articles of organization with the secretary of state. At this point, the only thing that should have required money is the articles of organization and the fee for filing varies by state. Once you receive your secretary of state ID, YOU ARE OFFICIAL!
Before you move any further, establish a budget! This business is expensive but it doesn't take a lot to start. Scaling is different, but don't let your budget discourage you from starting. Take it one day at a time. If its 500$, use the 500$ to the best of your ability. Work it and watch it grow. Also, business credit is easily obtainable, you just have to go about doing it the right way.
Next steps will be getting your website created, establishing vendor accounts, getting a business bank account and purchasing accounting software. I used quickbooks. Your accounting software is very important. Having everything documented properly will ensure you are ready for tax season!
